The GDI version features a high-pressure fuel pump driven by an additional cam on the exhaust camshaft, allowing fuel to be injected directly into the combustion chamber. This enables more precise fuel control and higher fuel efficiency. Furthermore, both the intake and exhaust camshafts are equipped with a dual continuously variable valve timing (dual CVVT) system. The valve mechanism uses shimsless tappets, requiring periodic clearance adjustments, typically every 60,000 miles (approximately 96,000 kilometers).
